Black Bombers!!!

Today the Black Bombers won the I9 Championship! I'm still amazed, these boys had an 0-7 record in the fall.  The exact same boys played spring flag football and they won the championship!  They were all really excited after the game and they each came home with a trophy.

Happy Birthday Grammy & Grandpa!

Grammy and Grandpa are in town for a few days so we took the opportunity to celebrate the June birthdays!  We missed having Uncle Brian with us, but everyone else had a blast.

2014 Golf Tournament

Yesterday we attend the 3rd Annual Golf Tournament to benefit Mitocondrial Disease Research.  The golf tournament was started by some highschoolers in our neighborhood.  The founders of the tournament graduated and headed off to college so this year the torch was passed to two other high school boys in our neighborhood.  Our dear friend and neighbor, Calvin, has mitochondrial disease.  Over the years I've tried not to say too much to my kids about his situation.  They see Calvin as just another member of their little neighborhood crew that loves to run around together.  Yesterday was no different, Lauren had a blast on the put put course with Calvin while Blake went out on the real course with Chad and many of our other neighbors.

Last day of kindergarten!

I'm a little uptight about what my kids eat and Blake is always asking for the junk he sees advertised on tv.  So I thought I'd surprise him with "sugary cereal" (I think that's what Alison and I called it the few times we had it growing up) on the last day of school. I should have taken a video, I swear he was more excited than when we told him we were going to Disneyland.  He ate FOUR bowls before school (maybe I should lighten up??).  I finally told him it would still be here when he got home.

Blake you had a great first year at school.  You are a great reader, made lots of new friends and you absolutely love taking the school bus.  Good job buddy, next up - first grade!!

Last day as a Ladybug

Lauren had her last day of school yesterday.  She is really excited to move up to the Crickets class, she's already asked to go back to school.
(the sunglasses go everywhere with her)

 Lauren's favorite teacher, Shannon
This face! I took about 20 pictures of these girls and Lauren was making this face in every single picture.

Disneyland!

The trip to the Magic Kingdom was a success! We tried to pack as much fun in as we could.  The kids were so excited they wanted to wear their "ears" 24/7. Going in, I thought Chad and Blake would do all of the big rides and Lauren and I would do the little stuff. As it turned out, Blake wanted to do some of the big kid stuff, but for the most part he was perfectly happy riding the rides we could all go on.  Their favorites were Peter Pan, Pirates of the Caribbean and Star Tours.

Making Uncle Brian proud

Chad surprised us with a limo when we arrived in California, complete with soda for Blake and chocolate milk for Lauren.

Our first day in Disneyland we got up early and were at the gates at 7:15.  Those of us waiting to meet the characters from Frozen got to go in the park early and get in line.  I waited 1.5 hours so we could meet Anna, luckily she is Lauren's favorite. With in moments of the park opening the line grew to a FIVE hour wait. Lauren went on some rides with Chad and Blake, but for the most part she waited in line with me.  I felt like the trip was a success after our first stop, Lauren was one happy little girl.
Finally, it was our turn.  Just before entering I asked Lauren if there was anything she wanted to ask Anna. "Umm...do you wanna build a snowman?"

After a full day in the park we took a late afternoon break for lunch and some pool time.  We then returned to Disneyland for some evening activities.  When Blake and Lauren started looking a little tired we decided to perk them up with some cotton candy.

Waiting in line for the Peter Pan ride, both Blake and Lauren's favorite. It was the first and last ride of the day.
We had searched all day for Minne with no luck.  Then on our way out of the park we found her and hopped in line for a picture, but her "handler" said no more pictures.  Lauren looked at me and then the handler and with her big blue eyes and sweet little voice said "do I get to have my picture with Minnie?" I think Minnie must have taken pity on my sweet girl because she took her hand and Lauren got to walk Minnie "home". I don't know if Lauren or I was happier! I said "thanks Minnie, you're the best" and she gave us all a hug and a smooch.

 California Adventure
We got up early again for our early entrance and the boys headed straight to Radiator Springs.  Lauren wasn't quite tall enough so we hit every other ride in the park while everyone else was in line!
We went to Ariel's Grotto for a princess breakfast.  Blake was less than impressed.  Oh, and it was definitely worth the price... Lauren ate exactly one bite of yogurt. After we left she devoured a $3 churrio.

Blake agreed to this pic because "she died eating an apple".

B & I racing (back left)

We made it up (barely) for a little bit of the World of Color show.

Waiting at the airport to head home Lauren announced she wanted to move to California "because it never rains here". Sounds good to me!
