Girly Gifts

Lauren has received some really nice gifts from our thoughtful friends and family. Yesterday, one of Chad's co-workers dropped some goodies by his desk for Lauren. I think they are her most girly gifts to date! So we had to have a little photo shoot this morning before her nap.

Family Photos

We had a photographer come to our house last week to take some newborn pictures of Lauren. She managed to pee on everyone except Blake!

Grandma, Blake and Lauren

Blake loves to have his picture taken, he seemed okay with letting his sister in on the action too.

Mom, Dad & Lauren

Yes, even Big Lou had his picture taken too.

My Growing Girl

Lauren had her 2 week appointment today. She is growing like a champ! She is up to 8 lbs 3 oz and 20 inches long, 52 percentile for each. She had to get her hep B shot and she let us know how much she hated it :( And this evening her belly button finally fell off. Here is a picture of her resting after our busy morning.

Grammy & Grandpa

Saturday night my Dad and Leslie came over to make dinner for Chad and I. It was so nice to have a fancy dinner and I didn't have to lift a finger! I put my feet up and had a few sips of my favorite wine while everyone else did the work ;)

Big Brother

Here are a few pictures from Blake's adventures while I was in the hospital. His Grandma took him to Build A Bear to make a bear for Lauren. He picked a pink bear with pink bows on her ears :)

Jean also took Blake to all of his activities and classes while she was in town. Blake's preschool had some Bellevue fire fighters visit our class. I'm so glad Blake got to go and check out the fire truck.

Sweet Little Girl

We are having lots of fun with Lauren, here is my favorite picture from today :) She likes to sleep with her arms up by her ears, just like Blake used to. I am wondering if it's a breech baby thing?

More big news at the Pittman house

When I married Chad all of his friends told me how lucky I was to have a mother in law like Jean. They have no idea! While Chad, Lauren and I were at the hospital Grandma managed to potty train Blake! It will be one week tomorrow and Blake's only had one accident. He is really excited about the whole thing and I am really proud of him. Now, if I can just keep up the good work after Grandma heads back to Portland!

One Week Old Today

We took Lauren in for her one week appointment and her doctor was impressed with her weight gain. She is up to 7 lbs 10 oz. Here is a picture of my happy girl. One week and it's already hard to imagine life without her.

My kids!

Blake seems to enjoy having Lauren around so far. He asks to hold her, wants to kiss her, etc. The other morning I let him watch some Berenstain Bears and he wanted to hold Lauren while he watched his show. I think he held her perfectly still for 10 minutes or so.

Best Surprise EVER!

It's a GIRL!
When we left for the hospital on Monday I was sure we were having another boy. As Chad and I drove up James St. to Swedish Hospital we finally settled on our boy name. A few hours later, I was strapped to the operating table when my doctor told Chad he could stand up and announce the sex of our baby. He stood up and said "it's a girl"! I said "What???" I think I started crying and laughing at the same time. Lauren Jean Pittman was born at 4:37 p.m. on 5/10/10 weighing 7lbs. 6oz and 19 inches long. So far she is a great eater and sleeper too!
After Lauren was born, we had Blake come into the recovery room to meet her. He was curious for a few minutes and then really excited about the goody bag Lauren had brought to the hospital for him :) Then it was time for Grandma Jean to come meet her new grandchild. My Mother in law raised two boys and has three grandsons. We all knew she would be happy with a healthy grandchild, but a girl would really be icing on the cake. I wish I had my camera so I could show you the look on her face when she walked in the room and saw Lauren's little pink hat! Needless to say, she is thrilled to have a granddaughter.
My sister and I are so excited to have girls just six months apart! Georgia has already been by to loan Lauren some of her clothes. Since I am in no shape to make it to the mall, Alison was sweet enough to bring the mall to me! She brought over a bunch of new clothes so I could do a little shopping from home.

This is a picture of me laying on the operating table - the first time I met Lauren.

Here we go!

Well, we are about to close one chapter and start another. I wanted to put down on paper how much I love being Blake's mom. I'm happy that I am a mom, but being Blake's mom is the best.
I keep worrying that Blake will feel "dethroned" by his new sibling. When my sister or I would ask my Mom who she loved more (it was me...right?!) she would always answer she loved us both the same amount but for different reasons. We both had unique talents and personalities. I'm sure the same will hold true for me with my kids. There are so many things I love about Blake. He has taught me so much over the last (almost) three years. When I was pregnant with Blake I was reading up on newborns and I'd heard about co-sleeping. I think my direct quote was "co-sleeping...that's for hippies". When Blake was around 3 months old he would not sleep ANYWHERE unless he was touching me. So sure enough, he slept next to me in our bed for about a month (I didn't sleep at all). But it was my first lesson in motherhood...I was not completely in charge here. There have been so many lessons since then, I have loved each new stage.

Dear Blake,

You came into this world with a smile on your face and you continue to be the happiest person I know. When you hit a little bump in the road it doesn't take you long to get yourself back on track. You are truly kind to others, I couldn't be more proud when I see you happily hand over a toy to another child who is waiting for a turn. If you see someone fall, you always ask "are you okay". You are so sweet. I know you are going to be a wonderful big brother. Always know your Dad and I love you - so much!

Lots of love,

Mommy & Daddy

Happy Mother's Day

I have to admit, this was a very bittersweet Mother's Day for me. Sweet in that my wonderful family made me breakfast and gave me a VERY nice gift...that won't fit on my swollen finger :) We went out boating on this beautiful day and had an great dinner too! However, I'm also so sad that my Mom isn't here, especially this year. As I pass different miles stones, it's always hard that she isn't here to share in the day. It just isn't fair that she never got to meet Chad or Blake and that she won't be there when our baby is born tomorrow. I know she'll be there in spirit.

Here are some pictures from our Mother's day - thanks for a great one Chad, Blake and Lou!
Just call me brave for posting this one - I know my belly is HUGE! Blake thought it would make a good pillow, and no, he didn't suffocate.

Ferry Ride

Chad and I wanted to do some fun activities with Blake this weekend, our last weekend as a family of three! Saturday we took Blake on a ferry ride to Bainbridge Island with a picnic lunch for the park. Blake LOVED the ferry ride, but was hoping he'd get to wear his life jacket. He fell asleep in the car while headed to the park....so Chad and I ate our picnic lunch in the car while Blake slept. He woke up in time for the return ferry ride. Oh well, all in all it was a fun day.
